Permanent Secretary Chee and Vice Minister Dung reaffirmed the excellent state of the Strategic Partnership between Singapore and Vietnam. They expressed appreciation for the mutual support rendered amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Both parties also reviewed Singapore and Vietnam鈥檚 wide-ranging and substantive cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, finance, transport, labour, food and agriculture, technical assistance, and defence and security. They agreed that there were opportunities to expand our cooperation in emerging areas such as start-ups and innovation, digital economy, legal and judicial cooperation, cybersecurity, and Smart Nation initiatives.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan co-chaired the 23rd ASEAN-European Union (EU) Ministerial Meeting (AEMM) with High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission (HR/VP) Josep Borrell on 1 December 2020 via videoconference. The Meeting welcomed expedited progress on the ASEAN-EU Comprehensive Air Transport Agreement and finalisation of the ASEAN-EU Free Trade Agreement. Both sides reiterated their commitment to 鈥渧accine multilateralism鈥� and support for the World Health Organisation to ensure fair, equitable, and affordable access to safe and effective vaccines.
