ON THE VISIT OF THE JAPANESE PRIME MINISTER TO PYONGYANG, 17 SEPTEMBER 2002

In response to press queries, the Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµSpokesman welcomed Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi's visit to Pyongyang on 17 September 2002.

"The visit is a positive development and an opportunity to improve relations in Northeast Asia", the Spokesman said. Pointing out that peace and stability in Northeast Asia was important to the whole of East Asia, "Singapore hopes that the visit will help to enhance peace and stability in the region", the Spokesman added.
