SINGAPORE-INDIA MOU UNDER THE AUSPICES OF
THE INITIATIVE FOR ASEAN INTEGRATION (IAI)
Singapore and India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Tuesday, 8 April 2003 in New Delhi to collaborate on a joint training project under the auspices of the Initiative for ASEAN Integration (IAI). Under the IAI, Singapore has established a training centre in each of the newer ASEAN countries, namely Cambodia, LAO PDR, Vietnam and Myanmar. These Centres offer human resource training aimed at integration of the newer ASEAN countries into ASEAN to help narrow the development gap between the older and newer members. With the conclusion of the Singapore-India MOU, Singapore and India will pool resources and expertise to jointly conduct courses at these training centres.
