Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵSPOKESMAN'S COMMENTS

In response to media queries, the Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵSpokesman said:

"We understand from SPH that Mr Ching Cheong, a Hong Konger with Singapore PR and a Straits Times' Correspondent, has been arrested in China to assist in investigations into a matter not related to the Singapore Government. Mr Ching is holding a British National (Overseas) passport. We understand that the Hong Kong SAR government is in touch with his family members.

The Chinese authorities have not approached us on this and we do not have the full facts of the case."
