APPOINTMENT OF SINGAPORE'S HIGH COMMISSIONER TO THE REPUBLIC OF PAKISTAN, SINGAPORE'S AMBASSADOR TO THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF TIMOR-LESTE AND SINGAPORE'S HIGH COMMISSIONER TO THE REPUBLIC OF MALDIVES

The Government has appointed Mr Lee Chiong Giam as Singapore's next High Commissioner to the Republic of Pakistan and Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, and Dr Chua Yong Hai as Singapore's next High Commissioner to the Republic of Maldives. They will be resident in Singapore.

Mr Lee is currently a Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has held various posts in the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and People's Association. For 17 years, he was the Chief Executive Director of the People's Association. He was High Commissioner to the Independent State of Papua New Guinea from 1982 to 1999 and High Commissioner to the Fiji Islands from 1997 to 2005.

Dr Chua Yong Hai is currently Singapore's High Commissioner to the Republic of Namibia. He is also Chairman of Asia Pacific Investment Co Ltd, a property investment company and a director of several listed and non-listed companies. He was High Commissioner to the Kingdom of Swaziland from 2002 to 2005.
