In response to media queries on UN Under-Secretary-General For Political Affairs Ibrahim Gambari's visit to Myanmar from 9 to 12 November 2006, the 丝瓜视频Spokesman said:
"We are glad that Mr Gambari was able to meet with senior Myanmar leaders as well as Aung San Suu Kyi. His visit marks a further stage in the development of a dialogue between Myanmar and the UN.
This is an important opportunity for the Myanmar authorities. We hope that Myanmar will continue to work closely with the UN. It is important that Mr Gambari be able to report substantive and concrete progress in at least some areas."
