In response to media queries on callers impersonating Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵofficers in scam calls, the Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵSpokesman said:
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has been informed that callers impersonating as Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵofficers have called members of the public to request that they verify their personal particulars and to pay a penalty for issues related to their immigration white card. The Ministry wishes to clarify that Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵdoes not conduct such verification and does not seek payment of penalties.
The Ministry takes a very serious view on such scam calls and has filed a police report. We advise members of the public to file a police report immediately if they receive similar phone calls.”
