Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Manpower and Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sam Tan will visit Finland from 19 to 22 September 2017. In Helsinki, MOS Tan will meet State Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office Paula Lehtomäki, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Parliament of Finland Matti Vanhanen, and Under-Secretary of State for External Economic Relations at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs Markku Keinänen, to explore ways to enhance bilateral relations between Singapore and Finland. As Singapore is an Arctic Council (AC) observer, MOS Tan will also reaffirm Singapore’s commitment to working with Finland on Arctic issues during Finland’s AC Chairmanship from 2017 to 2019. In addition, MOS Tan will visit the Finnish Meteorological Institute to explore collaboration opportunities.
MOS Tan will also visit Rovaniemi on 21 September. Located above the Arctic Circle, Rovaniemi is Finland’s Arctic capital and hosted the first ministerial-level conference of Arctic countries in 1991. MOS Tan will meet city officials and visit the Arctic Centre at the University of Lapland.
MOS Tan will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
