Ministry of Foreign Affairs Press Statement: Visit by Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Promotion of the Republic of Malta Carmelo Abela to Singapore, 6 to 9 April 2019

Senior Minister of State (SMS), Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman hosted lunch on 9 April for Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Promotion of the Republic of Malta Carmelo Abela. During the lunch, Minister Abela and SMS Maliki reaffirmed the friendly relations between Singapore and Malta. They also discussed ways to deepen bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on regional and international developments.

Minister Abela is in Singapore with a Maltese business delegation to attend the Singapore-Malta Business Forum (SMBF) on 8 April. During the SMBF, Minister Abela met with SMS, Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Communications and Information, Dr Janil Puthucheary. A Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Emerging Technologies and Cybersecurity was also signed between the Ministry of Communications and Information (MCI) and the Parliamentary Secretariat for Financial Services, Digital Economy and Innovation of Malta on the side-lines of the SMBF. Minister Abela will depart Singapore today.
