Visit by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to Jakarta, Republic of Indonesia, to attend the Inauguration of His Excellency Joko Widodo as President of the Republic of Indonesia, 19 to 20 October 2019

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong called on Indonesian President Joko Widodo at the Istana Merdeka this morning. Prime Minister Lee congratulated President Joko Widodo on his inauguration as President for a second term and said that he looked forward to building on the existing excellent cooperation between the two countries. Prime Minister Lee and President Joko Widodo also agreed to continue expanding collaboration across many sectors, including in human resource development and the digital economy. In the afternoon, Prime Minister Lee attended President Joko Widodo’s and Vice-President Ma’ruf Amin’s inauguration ceremony.

Prime Minister Lee is accompanied by Mrs Lee Hsien Loong, Minister for Education Ong Ye Kung, and officials from the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Prime Minister Lee will return to Singapore tonight.
