Visit by United States Senator Todd Young (R-Indiana), 24 to 27 March 2024

United States Senator Todd Young (R-Indiana) is visiting Singapore from 24 to 27 March 2024.

On 25 March 2024, Senator Young called on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong. They exchanged views on global and regional developments. Prime Minister Lee and Deputy Prime Minister Wong also reaffirmed the longstanding and excellent ties between the US and Singapore and close cooperation including in new frontiers such as critical and emerging technologies.

Senator Young’s visit to Singapore is in conjunction with a visit by a delegation from the United States National Security Commission on Emerging Biotechnology (NSCEB), of which he is a Commissioner. Earlier today, the NSCEB delegation had a joint meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic Policies Heng Swee Keat and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong. The NSCEB delegation was also hosted to breakfast by Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, as well as to tea by Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen. Both sides affirmed the strong potential for collaboration in biotechnologies, including in areas such as research and development, and workforce development.
