Travel Notice: Situation in Peru

 

On 22 October 2025, the Peru government declared a 30-day state of emergency in the capital, Lima, and the neighbouring Callao province due to rising crime and violence that have resulted in multiple deaths. The police and military are allowed to enter homes and effect arrest without warrants. Civil liberties, such as the right to assembly, may be suspended.

 

Singaporeans are advised to exercise a high degree of caution when visiting Peru, and to take all necessary precautions for their personal safety, including monitoring the local news and heeding the instructions of local authorities. 

 

Singaporeans are encouraged to eRegister with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at  so that we can contact you should the need arise. Travellers should purchase comprehensive travel and medical insurance and be familiar with the terms and coverage.
