The Singapore Embassy in Manila hosted a Chinese New Year “Lo Hei” Reception for our Filipino friends as well as members of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps on 6 February 2020. We ushered in the Year of the Rat with a lively and boisterous lion dance performance (complete with a God of Fortune), as well as the traditional “Lo Hei” (prosperity toss). A sumptuous buffet spread, including the usual crowd favourites like Hainanese Chicken Rice and Laksa, was also on offer.
The Rat is the first animal in the Chinese Zodiac, and indicates the beginning of a new cycle. In a way, Singapore and the Philippines had similarly crossed a major milestone last year when we celebrated the Golden Jubilee of our diplomatic relations, and are looking forward to embark on the next 50 years of friendship and progress together. We look forward to a prosperous year ahead, and more activities to strengthen bilateral relations
